Two Free Dark Voyager Rewards Are Up for Grabs
Epic Games is dropping two free Dark Voyager cosmetics through the Shattered live event. The Pickaxe goes to anyone who shows up, squad or no squad. The Sidekick needs at least one friend in the party. Both are tied to the same event on June 5, 2026 at 7 PM ET with the lobby opening at 6:20 PM ET.

How to Get the Dark Voyager Sidekick
Bring a friend. That is the only real difference between getting the Sidekick and just getting the Pickaxe. Squad can be anywhere from two to four players and the Sidekick drops either way. Steps to follow when the event goes live:
Step 1: Launch Fortnite and select the Shattered live event playlist.
Step 2: Invite at least one friend before hitting ready.
Step 3: Play through the Fortnite Shattered live event to the end.
Step 4: Wait for the servers to come back up after downtime.
Step 5: Load into Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 and check the Locker.
Both the Sidekick and Pickaxe show up in the Locker when the new season loads in for the first time. There is no separate claim step, they land automatically after the transition completes.
What Solo Players Get Instead
No friends available on June 5? The Pickaxe still drops. Load into the Shattered event without a squad, watch it through to the end, and the Dark Voyager Pickaxe shows up in the Locker when Season 3 starts. It is a cleaner reward process for solo players since there is nothing extra to set up. Just show up, watch the event, and wait for the servers to come back.
The Pickaxe is not a consolation prize either. It is a full cosmetic tied to one of the season’s main characters and it matches well with existing Dark Voyager skins already in a lot of Lockers from previous seasons.
When the Shattered Event Actually Happens
June 5, 2026 at 7 PM ET. Lobby opens at 6:20 PM ET so getting in forty minutes early locks the spot before capacity fills. The Shattered event closes out Chapter 7 Season 2 entirely and Fortnite servers go into downtime the moment it ends. Missing it means missing the rewards there is no replay option and no second event window after the servers drop.

Free XP From the Stress Test Too
There is also a Shattered event stress test running separately from the main event. Jumping in earns free XP instantly with no friends required. Worth doing before June 5 if the goal is to go into Season 3 with some extra level progress already banked. It is a quick run and the XP hits immediately after completing it.
No. Once the Shattered event ends and the servers go into downtime, both rewards are gone for good. The Dark Voyager Sidekick and Pickaxe are exclusive to players who attend on June 5. They are not coming to the Item Shop and there is no other way to get them after the event closes out.
