Epic Just Dropped the First Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 Teaser
Epic Games posted the first official look at Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 on Fortnite’s social channels, and it is simply dated 6.6.26 with a piece of artwork. The season is called Runners and it follows Chapter 7 Season 2 closing out with the Shattered live event. The teaser does not spell everything out directly but the details buried in the artwork are doing a lot of the talking on their own.

A Dark Voyager Sprite Is Hiding in the Teaser Art
The biggest reveal in the teaser is not immediately obvious. Buried inside the typography of the Season 3 logo is what can only be identified as a Dark Voyager Sprite, and the community picked it up fast. Sprites were a gameplay mechanic introduced in Chapter 6 Season 1 that gave players stackable buffs and unique abilities while holding them. Epic even added a Superman Sprite at one point, which shows how seriously the feature was developed before it got removed in Chapter 7.
What Sprites Actually Do and Why Fans Missed Them
For players who did not play during the Sprite era, the mechanic worked as a companion buff system. Players could carry Sprites around the island and receive different ability boosts depending on which one they had. The creatures had distinct designs and abilities, making them both a gameplay advantage and a collectible element that the community grew genuinely attached to. Their removal when Chapter 7 started left a noticeable gap that a lot of players had been asking Epic to address.
The Tropical Artwork Is Hinting at Big Map Changes
Beyond the Sprite confirmation, the overall artwork for Chapter 7 Season 3 Runners has a warm, tropical aesthetic to it. Palm trees, warm tones, and summer-adjacent visuals suggest the Chapter 7 island is heading toward a major environmental shift. The Fortnite Shattered live event was already teasing significant map changes, so the combination of the event and the tropical visual direction in the teaser is pointing toward something bigger than a standard seasonal refresh.

Season 3 Starts Right After the Shattered Live Event
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 Runners launches on June 6, 2026. The servers go into downtime immediately after the Shattered live event wraps up, which means the transition from Season 2 to Season 3 is happening in real time during the event itself. Players who want to be there for the map changes and the Season 3 launch should plan to be logged in for the Shattered event before the servers drop.
Final Thoughts
Sprites coming back is the news the community has been waiting on since Chapter 7 started, and Epic managed to announce it without actually announcing it by hiding the Dark Voyager in the logo art. The tropical visual direction and the Shattered event setup suggest Season 3 is going to hit with more changes than a typical new season rotation. June 6 is the date and the servers drop right after Shattered ends.
