Update Launch and Downtime

Update 40.10 is the first significant patch for Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2. Following a planned outage on April 1, 2026, beginning at 4 AM ET, the upgrade went online. Playlists and matchmaking were put on hold while servers were momentarily unavailable for maintenance.

All systems resumed regular operation after the outage. Now, players have unrestricted access to all modes. Stability tests are finished before servers are reopened, and the rollout adheres to the standard update pattern.

OG Season 8 Returns

The release of OG Season 8 is the patch’s high point. The pirate motif from Chapter 1, which is still one of the most memorable periods, is revisited in this update. Traditional sites like Volcano and Lazy Lagoon reappear on the map, reintroducing well-known travel routes.

Additionally, pirate-themed items and weaponry are back in gameplay. Ballers will be added later in the season, but the Flint-Knock Pistol and Pirate Cannons are back in the loot pool. The experience is kept interesting by the combination of nostalgia and a slow release of new content.

A new OG Pass launches alongside the season, offering remixed versions of classic skins. Players can unlock Pyreheart, Synthesis, and Luxe Patroller through progression. Each design reimagines original outfits with updated visuals.

This pass extends the value of the OG experience. It encourages players to revisit older themes while working toward new cosmetic rewards. The structure follows the familiar progression system, making it easy to follow.

April Fools Mode Features

The April Fools update introduces a limited-time Big Head mode. This event runs for 24 hours and adds humorous gameplay elements. Players enter matches with oversized heads, which changes combat visibility and targeting.

New mechanics add variety to matches. Finger guns act as weapons, while rideable llamas allow quick movement across the map. Fall damage immunity replaces impact with a cartoon-like effect, which shifts the pacing of engagements.

Additional features push the playful theme further. Players can stack on teammates’ shoulders, creating unusual team formations. This mechanic allows creative movement strategies during matches.

Some features may remain beyond the event window. Developer feedback suggests that llama riding and shoulder stacking could stay if player response is positive. This approach allows experimentation without long-term commitment.

New Skins and Cosmetics

The update also introduces brainrot skins in the item shop. Confirmed additions include Tung Tung Tung Sahur and Ballerina Cappuccina. These cosmetics expand the visual style with more unconventional designs.

Each skin will release with matching items. Pickaxes and weapon wraps will follow the same theme, giving players full customization options. The content supports the seasonal tone without affecting gameplay balance.

Battle Pass Super Styles

Super Styles are now available for Chapter 7 Season 2 Battle Pass skins. Players can unlock enhanced versions of characters like The Order, Squibbly, and Lady Winterfrost. These styles provide additional visual upgrades after base completion.

Unlocking them requires finishing the main Battle Pass first. This system adds extended progression for players who reach level 100. It keeps engagement steady beyond early milestones.

Several gameplay adjustments arrive with this patch. The Chaos Reloader Shotgun receives reduced body damage and standardized reload speed. The Twin Mag SMG gets accuracy changes that affect movement and crouching.

Bug fixes address gameplay and cosmetic issues. Problems with items, animations, and map interactions have been resolved. Quality-of-life features such as text-to-speech and speech-to-text are also added for accessibility.

The update prepares for Arenas mode, which launches on April 9, 2026. This mode focuses on close-range combat with formats like 1v1 and 16-player matches. Players can earn rewards through dedicated quests.

New collaborations are also in development. A crossover with Cyberpunk 2077 introduces the Adam Smasher skin, while a Toy Story event will include Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and Zurg. Some rewards may be available through competitive events.
