Crossovers in gaming are not unusual, by any means, but every now and then you come across one that really makes you stop and have another look. That is the case with Destiny 2 collaborating with Magic: The Gathering.
They are two of the biggest franchises, but they belong to two completely opposite extremes of the gaming industry. Somehow, this collab feels like a match made in heaven. As a matter of fact, it could turn out to be one of the most stunning crossovers of Destiny 2 yet.
Another Mysterious Collab That Makes Sense

Bungie also announced the collab with its most recent update, meaning that officially, Magic-themed content is being introduced. In the beginning, it may be somewhat surprising. The last thing that comes to mind when combining a sci-fi looter shooter with a fantasy card game is not that obvious.
However, the collab is quite natural when you consider it. The two games feature a great deal of lore, character identity, and element-based or archetype abilities. It is not forced to bring the iconic characters of Magic into the world of Destiny; on the contrary, it seems like a clever, imaginative decision.

Armor Sets Inspired by Legendary Characters

The central element of this crossover will be three new sets of armor, based on one of the most well-known planeswalkers of Magic:
- Titan – Flamecaller Set: It was inspired by Chandra Nalaar and is based on pure power and violent, flamish energy connected to red mana.
- Hunter – Mindsculptor Set: Inspired by Jace Beleren, it focuses on accuracy, deception, and play tricks.
- Warlock – Death’s Majesty Set: It is based on Liliana Vess, but it has darker, necromantic concepts with a dark, foreboding appearance.
What’s nice here is that these aren’t just surface-level reskins. Each set actually reflects the personality and essence of the character behind it, which makes them feel more meaningful.
More Than Armor, a Full Theme is Coming

The collaboration goes well beyond gear. Bungie is basically rolling out an entire Magic-inspired cosmetic suite, including:
- A Ghost shell modeled after Emrakul (yes, that Emrakul—pretty wild choice)
- A new Exotic ship and Sparrow influenced by the biomechanical Phyrexians
- A finisher inspired by the “Overrun” spell
- Emotes like “Ignite Your Spark” and “Sol Ring”
- A shader pack based on Magic’s five land types—Plains, Island, Swamp, Mountain, and Forest
Altogether, it’s more like a full aesthetic takeover than a simple crossover. You can essentially infuse your entire loadout with Magic’s identity.

Why This One Feels Different
You won’t be waiting long. The crossover becomes available on March 24, and all of it will be found in the Eververse store of Destiny 2. No official pricing is available yet, although the assumption is that they will be priced as premium cosmetics.
The Magic: The Gathering franchise has decades of recognizable faces and visual narrative to its name, and Destiny 2 lives on player expression through customization.
Put those together and you have something that does not just look cool but feels intentional. And as Magic keeps extending its boundaries via crossover projects, this is more like a natural progression instead of a one-shot gimmick.
