Cyberpunk is the biggest and most profitable title from CD Projekt. With more than 35 million copies sold, fans just can’t get enough. The ARPG launched in December 2020 and has received one major paid expansion (September 2023) and 10-12 small free DLCs (downloadable content). Yes, fans want more.
They have been asking for more DLCs to expand the storyline set in the dystopian Night City. Despite calls for more DLCs, the studio behind Cyberpunk 2077 has made it clear: don’t expect any additional expansions.

Everything began with the rumors that CD Projekt was secretly developing the DLCs to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The reports point to the DLCs being introduced later in 2026. The Witcher 3 was released over ten years ago, therefore, making it a point of excitement among the old fans.
Although a DLC this late after the game’s release can be seen as the second life of the game, Cyberpunk 2077 fans started to wonder.
One of these fans, Runner on X, inquired of the Polish studio during its official announcement of the Xbox whether there will be further DLCs. In the words of the studio, there are “no plans” for additional DLC.

They told Runner that he would be notified if anything changes. That effectively confirms that the game’s massive Phantom Liberty expansion will remain its final major addition.

Players Demand Additional Cyberpunk 2077 DLCs
The decision remains a surprise for players who have been anticipating more Cyberpunk 2077 content. They believe it deserves more DLCs as it remains the studio’s biggest hit and has undergone one of the most dramatic redemption arcs in gaming history.
Under the thread, stunned at the decision, one fan wrote, “So you’re really gonna have us wait 5+ more years for any new Cyberpunk content.” Another asked for “just a small expansion pleeeeeeease.”
Some have even questioned the studio’s decision to keep rolling out DLCs for the much older Witcher 3. Juxhn wrote, “why does the witcher get so many???” Another wrote, “Now do the same with The Witcher account,” asking for there to be no more Witcher 3 DLCs, too.
Why CD Projekt Is Ending Cyberpunk DLC

The easy explanation for the move is simple: the future of Cyberpunk is a sequel, not an expansion. Cyberpunk 2 is a follow-up that has already been confirmed by CD Projekt.
Instead of dividing the resources on new DLC as well as on upcoming projects, the studio appears to be dedicated to creating the next generation of the largest franchises. CD Projekt is in the process of:
- A new Cyberpunk sequel
- Another trilogy of Witcher (Witcher 4 is planned in 2027)
- Multiple new projects within the universe of the Witcher.
Development-wise, it is reasonable. Big RPGs require years to develop, and CD Projekt seems to be focused on the future instead of stretching back into the past.
