Pawprint Studio’s creature-catching open-world RPG just went live. The Aniimo launch hit PC and console on September 16, 2026. Aniimo is free to play and available on Steam, Epic Games Store, PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X/S. Mobile follows on September 23.

What Is Aniimo?

Aniimo is a free-to-play open-world creature-catching RPG set in the continent of Idyll. It sits in the same genre as Pokémon and Palworld — explore a colorful world, catch creatures using Aniipods, and build a team to battle with. Pawprint Studio built the game with a cross-platform audience in mind from the start.

The Twine mechanic is what sets Aniimo apart from other creature-catching games. Players can merge with their collected creatures and transform into them during battle and environmental puzzles. It adds a direct gameplay layer on top of the standard catch-and-battle loop.

Mobile Version Delayed to September 23

The Aniimo launch on mobile was originally expected alongside PC and console. Pawprint Studio confirmed the delay — Android and iOS players get the game one week later on September 23, 2026. Pre-registration is available on both the Google Play Store and the App Store ahead of that date.

The delay affects mobile only. PC and console players can start now. Mobile players can pre-register and have the game ready on launch day without missing any content — cross-progression means no progress loss when switching to a different platform later.

Two major modes are in at launch. The main open-world RPG covers Idyll with creature catching, Twine transformations, and competitive battles against other players called Pathfinders. The second mode is Egg Heist — a PvPvE mode where three-player teams search for eggs and fight both AI and real players in the Lost Isles region.

Egg Heist draws comparisons to extraction shooters like Arc Raiders and Marathon. The three-player team format and real-time battles against other teams give it a more tactical feel than the main story mode. Both modes are live from day one on PC and console.

Nintendo Switch 2 Is Not Getting Aniimo at Launch

Pawprint Studio has not confirmed a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Aniimo. The game is not available on the platform at launch. No announcement on future Switch 2 support has been made — the current platform list is PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile from September 23.

Players on Switch 2 who want to play Aniimo would need to access it on a different platform and use cross-progression to keep their save data if a Switch 2 version arrives later.

Final Thoughts
