We’re still in the second quarter and 2026 is already a legendary year for gaming. While many gamers are already calling it the best in a decade, another hit, 2026 Above Land: Rhapsody has just been revealed. Teasers show Above Land: Rhapsody as an absolutely wild sci-fi fantasy action-RPG roguelite.

Developed by Amateurs, this new release promises to take players to the literal heights of Cloud 9. With a gameplay loop that blends swordplay, tower defense, and childhood imagination, this is certainly one for the watchlist. While no official release date has been confirmed, this is what we know so far about Above Land.

An Adventure Placed Above the Clouds

The setting of Above Land: Rhapsody is as majestic as it is surreal. The game takes place in a cloud-based civilization where humans live on floating islands. These aren’t just any islands. They are situated on the backs of giant, mythical creatures known as Kun.

The narrative premise is deeply personal. Players progress through chapters of a comic book left behind by their mother. By completing challenges within these “pages,” players collect Stars to repair a stranded vessel known as the Invincible Bebe.

The story changes between a ruined present and a nostalgic yesterday, a time when humans and the ancient Kun lived in perfect harmony.

One main thing about Above Land: Rhapsody is its social play design. Above Land is a multiplayer game with co-op for three players, and friends can team up to play through visually stunning maps. Maps are based on comic book chapters, so the landscape and challenges will never become too familiar.

The gameplay combines action-packed RPG and tower defense gameplay. Players need to hold out and complete map-specific tasks to win the resources required to advance to the next chapter.

You won’t have to face the ruins alone. Every player is accompanied by a Wobbo. These companions are powerful and cute allies capable of transformation. Wobbo companions feature multiple combat modes, adding another layer of tactical depth to the already chaotic skirmishes.

Unique Weapons of Imagination

Perhaps the most striking feature revealed in the announcement is the arsenal. While traditional fantasy weapons like bows and arrows or swords are available, Above Land: Rhapsody leans heavily into imagination-based childhood objects.

The trailer showcases players dual-wielding and instantly swapping between weapon loadouts that include folding chairs, guitars, fireworks, basketballs, and dice. It has to be the most unique arsenal we’ve seen yet.

These weapons aren’t just gimmicks. They are fully upgradable. This allows players to refine their playstyle as they delve deeper into the roguelite loops.
